Health Effects of Smoking Cigarettes

Cigarette smoking affects almost every body organ of the smoker, sooner or later. Most of the smokers have a hard time healing out of even a minor injury. Smokers seem to see doctors more often due to one or more health ailment. Cigarettes contain tobacco and many harmful chemicals like cyanide and nicotine. Although everyone is aware of the health effects of smoking cigarettes, very few manage to stay aloof from this bad habit.

It has been found by many researchers that one of the most powerful impacts of cigarette smoking is on the brain of the smoker. Some other health effects of smoking cigarettes include many serious and life threatening complications such as heart disease and stroke, emphysema, cancer, heartburn, peptic cancer, bronchitis, pneumonia and various respiratory diseases. Every time a smoker smokes his heart rate increases for a certain period of time as cigarettes contain a mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide, both of which have a great effect on the heart beat. One more ill effect of cigarette smoking includes cases of paralysis of both hands and feet as when a person smokes the amount of oxygen traveling in the body reduces.

One of the most prominent health effects of smoking cigarettes is that it can cause different types of cancers such as lung, throat, bladder and stomach. It has been found that smokers have 10 percent more chances of having lung cancer as compared to non-smokers. Women who smoke passively face severe complications in fertility that might result in the impairment of the child’s growth and overall development. Lastly, two another health effects of smoking cigarettes are bad breath and bad skin. It can be said that now it is high time that we all realize the ill effects of smoking and stop smoking.
